A note about the possible presence of allergens in Pizza Hut pizza sauce
Pizza is offered daily for lunch in Niskayuna’s elementary, middle and high schools. This school year (2008-09), the pizza sold in the school cafeterias is purchased from Pizza Hut.

A chart published on the Pizza Hut Web site shows that regular pizza sauce, sweet pizza sauce and Mia sauce are all “prepared in common equipment which may contain the following allergens: peanut, egg, milk, wheat, soybeans, shellfish and fish.”

An additional statement indicates that: “the allergen information displayed on this site is based on standard product formulations and is current as of April 30, 2008. Variations may occur due to differences in suppliers, ingredient substitutions, recipe revisions and or product preparation at the restaurant.”

In the interest of safety for children with food sensitivities, the district has sent a letter home to all parents informing them of this matter and has posted the Pizza Hut Allergen list.
